When using this procedure
PRP comprises special cells called Platelets, that may cause the growth of the hair follicles by stimulating the stem cells and other cells in the microenvironment of the hair follicle. These special platelet cells accelerate the rate and degree of tissue healing, cellular regeneration, response to injury, and formation of new cell growth. The main purpose of using PRP in hair restoration is to stimulate inactive hair follicles into an active development period.
Inside the platelets are many intercellular structures such as glycogen, lysosomes, and alpha granules. These granules within PRP contain clotting and growth factors that are ultimately released throughout the healing and repair process.
PRP specific cells that causes hair growth include:
promotes blood vessel growth, cell replication, skin formation
promotes growth of matrix between cells, bone metabolism;
promotes blood vessel formation
promotes cell growth and differentiation, blood vessel formation, collagen formation;
promotes growth of specialized cells and blood vessel formation
a regulator of normal physiology in nearly every type of cell in the body
WHAT TO EXPECT WITH HAIR RESTORATION:
Blood is drawn in our office as though you are having a routine blood test. It is then spun in a centrifuge and the PRP is separated and removed from the rest of the blood. You should be well hydrated (drink lots of water) prior to your visit to maximize the amount of plasma we can yield from your blood draw. Before photos of the treatment area will be taken.
After the skin of the scalp has been numbed, the highly concentrated platelet rich plasma (PRP) is delivered to the dermis using the Microneedling pen, and an additional quantity of PRP is injected into the scalp.
- The hair restoration procedure (not including blood draw or numbing time) takes approximately 40 minutes.
- It is suggested to be performed every 4 to 6 weeks for a total of 3 procedures.
- Maintenance would then be one treatment once or twice a year for most clients.
